Art classes for everyone.Des cours d'art en français.

Happy New Year:-)!!!

Happy New Year,dear friends:-)!
Lets start 2015 in color with an interview with the talented Emily Deegan!
Emily

Who are you and what do you do?

Emily Deegan, I am a nurse at Toronto General Hospital

Why Art? Why did you wish to paint/draw in the first place?

I have always been an art supporter. I was exposed to painting in my youth as both my Grandmas were painters and grew up drawing and painting very casually.

How long have you been painting/drawing?

Throughout my life I have been drawing very casually. I got more into painting for fun as a way to relax during my undergrad in 2008.

What inspires you?

Seeing other work, especially the work of the other students in the studio (great pieces guys!).

Who is your favorite artist? What type of art do you prefer?

I need more exposure to the art world, I do not know many modern artists. I enjoy modern art but am much more familiar with the classic painters. I love the attitude and boldness of Frieda. I love the use of colours and brush work of Van Gogh. I will never forget the first time I saw The Impressionist works, that really got me considering painting in a more meaningful way. I never loose interest in Group of Seven paintings and frequently view them with ever growing respect.

What’s the best thing about spending time in the studio?

I find the studio has a great atmosphere about it, it is relaxed and nonjudgmental. This attitude makes it easy to be yourself and tune in to your creativity. Next to sleeping in my bed, it is my favourite place to be right now.

What do you like the most about the art classes with Art Doncheva Studio?

I really appreciate how flexible Milena is. She respects your interests and goals instead of forcing you to do specific structured exercises. She will challenge you and encourage you to stretch your limits, (with the convincing help of cookies and coffee ;)), to increase your capabilities. Mostly I like how these classes motivate me to keep painting and drawing.

Interview with Gordana Kozovska

Art Doncheva Studio invites you to discover the art of Gordana Kozovska:-)

interview Gordana

interview Gordana

Who are you and what do you do?
Gordana is my name. Painting and drawing is what I do.

Why Art? Why did you wish to paint/draw in the first place?
Art comes in many forms. Everyone expresses it differently. Somehow the pencils and brushes in my hand become alive and lead me trough the paper and canvas trough high emotions right to some calm place.

How long have you been painting/drawing?

The end of each school year, on the last day, I would close myself in my room and draw for hours…that was a huge relief from the year of studying and tests…it was my own award for the successful year…so I have always been friend with pencils and crayons.

What inspires you?
Life ( in events ) and nature ( in colours) offer abundance of inspiration. In every painting there is a part of me…my life as it was or is.

Who is your favorite artist? What type of art do you prefer?
Favorite artist is not one chosen for life. Living is a process of evolution. I started with Da Vinci…Fechin…impressionists…
Now the style that excites me is wabi-sabi and that’s what I want to do

What’s the best thing about spending time in the studio?
Studio is ready for a mess.
Studio is conversation with others about Art.
Studio is where new inspiration easily comes to realization.
Go in… and work… no preparation.

What do you like the most about the art classes with Art Doncheva Studio?
It is a very inspiring place to be. The setting is so inviting. Walls are full with amazing art from Milena. It calls everyone to do the best one can … easels, paints… so much around to work with…inspiring leadership of Milena…and the artistic resting area…the breaks with coffee and tea I like a lot .

Interview with Berrin Calkavur

Here comes our next art talk. Please meet my good friend Berrin Calkavur:-)

Berrin Calkavur

Berrin Calkavur

Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Berrin Calkavur. I am from Turkey and I have been in Toronto for 3 years. I had practiced as an attorney at law more than 19 years in Istanbul,Turkey.I am a full time mother now.

Why Art? Why did you wish to paint/draw in the first place?
When I was in high school, the art lesson was mandatory and I was pretty good at it, but after graduating from the high school I never had a chance to draw or paint again. During my professional life, I could never have a chance to interest in art again. When I came to Canada and met with Milena, I told my self that it would be a good chance for me to get into art and explore myself via art. To take an art class was one of my goal before I get age of 50.

How long have you been painting/drawing?
I have been attending Art Doncheva Studio since January 2012.

Who is your favourite artist? What type of art do you prefer?
My favourite artists are Pablo Picasso and Claude Monet; I like abstract paintings, image transfer and drawing by charcoal. I am not very patient about detail painting and drawing.

What’s the best thing about spending time in the studio?
For me the best thing about spending time at the studio is to see how I am able to create an art piece. When I start a new project, every time at the beginning I think it is going to be mess, but after working on it, it becomes quite something I feel very happy and a talented. I have still been amazed after finishing my project.

What do you like the most about the art classes with Art Doncheva Studio?
I think Milena is a really good art instructor. She has been an artist since her early ages and she had a very good education. Therefore she gives art lessons as I am in an art academy. She teaches all of different painting and drawing techniques. I am not only having fun and satisfied with my art pieces, but I also learn different art techniques.
