Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Berrin Calkavur. I am from Turkey and I have been in Toronto for 3 years. I had practiced as an attorney at law more than 19 years in Istanbul,Turkey.I am a full time mother now.

Why Art? Why did you wish to paint/draw in the first place?
When I was in high school, the art lesson was mandatory and I was pretty good at it, but after graduating from the high school I never had a chance to draw or paint again. During my professional life, I could never have a chance to interest in art again. When I came to Canada and met with Milena, I told my self that it would be a good chance for me to get into art and explore myself via art. To take an art class was one of my goal before I get age of 50.

How long have you been painting/drawing?
I have been attending Art Doncheva Studio since January 2012.

Who is your favourite artist? What type of art do you prefer?
My favourite artists are Pablo Picasso and Claude Monet; I like abstract paintings, image transfer and drawing by charcoal. I am not very patient about detail painting and drawing.

What’s the best thing about spending time in the studio?
For me the best thing about spending time at the studio is to see how I am able to create an art piece. When I start a new project, every time at the beginning I think it is going to be mess, but after working on it, it becomes quite something I feel very happy and a talented. I have still been amazed after finishing my project.

What do you like the most about the art classes with Art Doncheva Studio?
I think Milena is a really good art instructor. She has been an artist since her early ages and she had a very good education. Therefore she gives art lessons as I am in an art academy. She teaches all of different painting and drawing techniques. I am not only having fun and satisfied with my art pieces, but I also learn different art techniques.
